Susan Sinclair is a highly respected federal judge in San Diego. She is presiding over a major criminal case, the prosecution of C. Kevin Smith.

Smith is a close associate of the president and his inner circle. He is a strong supporter of the MAGA movement and Project 2025.

On a Friday evening, the judge comes home to find two things. One, her home was burglarized. Two, nothing was taken but something was left there -- incriminating videotapes that she made over thirty years ago as a teenager.

There is also a note telling her to kick the case, or else.

The case is assigned to the Deputy U.S. Marshals Marlon Grimes and Jana Berry.  But Smith is a friend of the president, and the president controls the FBI, the United States Attorney General, and the Supreme Court.
